Le Requiem De Mozart - Bartabas

Created in Salzburg in 2017 by the conductor and director of the Opéra national de Bordeaux Marc Minkowski, a great lover of horses, and the high priest of the equestrian theater Bartabas, this ballet on the Requiem, by Mozart, is this time presented in a piano-organ version under the direction of Michel Piquemal, with the Vittoria Regional Choir of Ile-de-France. The founder of Zingaro is a mystic who ignores himself (or not?), and is never as dazzling as when he pushes horses and riders to the limit; at the risk of flirting with the beyond and the absolute. It is with the young artists of the Equestrian Academy of Versailles (founded in 2003), that he puts in the saddle this religious and theatrical masterpiece that is Mozart's Requiem. These animal nuptials to life and death, against a backdrop of divine anger and forgiveness, are overwhelming, even if the ritual of incessant equestrian rounds designed by Bartabas ends up becoming redundant. There remains curiosity, astonishment in the face of this crazy, infinitely cheeky spectacle.
