After Kadamati, choreography for more than 700 dancers created with the Théâtre de la Ville, the choreographer returned to the Châtelet and revisited the emblem of romantic ballet by transposing it to the 21st century. A work carried by the English National Ballet which presents it for the first time in France at the Étés de la danse.
This ballet in two acts composed by Adolphe Adam after a libretto by Théophile Gautier was premiered on June 28, 1848, at the Paris Opera. Giselle is considered a classic of romantic ballet, where the Willis, these ghostly beings, spectres of young dead fiancées, chase their fiancés once night comes to precipitate them into death.
