Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill, born May 26, 1975 in East Orange, New Jersey, is a hip-hop and RnB singer-songwriter. She is best known for being a member of the band Fugees.

Raised in South Orange, New Jersey, she began singing with her family. She enjoyed success as a singer at a young age, appearing frequently in a soap opera called As the World Turns and in the movie Sister Act 2. In high school, she met Pras Michel with whom she started a band that was later joined by her friend, Wyclef Jean. They renamed themselves the Fugees and released two albums, Blunted on Reality in 1994 and The Score in 1996. The Score sold over 6 million copies in the United States.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, published in 1998, is the only solo album of the singer. She tells her life in the neo soul genre. The album was very well received by the trade press and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling more than 8 million copies in the United States. It contains the singles Doo Wop (That Thing) (also #1), Ex-Factor, and Everything Is Everything. The album won five awards at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards.

Soon after, Lauryn Hill is increasingly popular due to its success, continues the scenes, interviews and songs. Her last album, the live MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 released in 2002, divided the specialized press and sold poorly compared to the first. The singer then appears from time to time on tour.
Some songs were made since 2007, 2008 with Lose Myself (on the soundtrack of the animated film Les Rois de la glisse), World is a Hustle among other examples. Nevertheless, putting aside the year 2009 when Lauryn Hill canceled a major part of her tour dates, she has not stopped traveling the nations and singing on stage her revisited songs. In June 2010, she talks about the possibility of recording a new album.

On October 4, 2012, she participated in the Orange ROCKCORPS concert held at the dome in Marseille. Following her conviction for tax evasion in May 2013, she is under a legal injunction giving her a deadline to release new songs to pay her debts
